Great Desk!

I've owned this desk for a little under a week, and so far, I am extremely satisfied with it. It feels sturdy all around without any wobbling or shaking, and the surface is extremely flat and even. The lifting and lowering is very smooth and is one of the quietest I've heard. I bought the 29D x 70W desk. It's holding two monitors (high-refresh, on the heavier side), two speakers, my DAC & Amp, metal desk mic, mouse, keyboard, and my laptop, and the desk lifts everything effortlessly.

I don't want to call it a complaint because it wasn't that much of an issue, but I would say there's definitely some room for improvement with the assembly instructions. First, the screws aren't identified in the exact same way in the instructions compared to the bags they come in. The screw packs in the instructions have two identifiers such as "S-90" and "M6 x 8mm Set Screw" or "S200" and "M6 x 10mm Button Head". I've thrown the empty bags from the package away at this point, but they lacked the "Sxx" identifier and had a different label on top. They did have the "M6 x 8mm Set Screw" description on the bottom of the bag, but it was done in such a way that I was constantly double- and triple-checking that I was using the proper screws for each step.

The only other criticism I have is that the steps for securing the slide rails could have been much clearer. You just have to make sure they're more or less centered under the desktop and screw them down with the proper screws. It's makes 100% sense after doing it once, but I had to pause for a while during assembly and even did a small search online to make sure I was lining up the rails properly. The instructions emphasized a small channel + slot in the rails in one step (which is indeed where/when they had to be put in place), but didn't show how to secure them for 3 more steps. Due to the transparency in the diagram on the first step, I was unsure as to exactly how these slide rails needed to be positioned - both centered? staggered (one all the way left, and one all the way right)? In the end, not that big of a deal. I would suggest adding a few sentences or small paragraph to each page of the instructions with explicit details. The current manual is mostly going for a "pictures only" approach with a few warnings and "Important" text notes sprinkled in. E.g. "Important: Install screws loosely", then "Important: tighten all screws".

Overall, the assembly process still went pretty quickly, and I did not have any real issues. I can't comment on long-term durability, but I'm very happy right now with the final product, and I would gladly buy this desk again. Plus the 10-year warranty? Amazing stuff.

Obsessed.

I have wanted a standing desk for the longest time and finally went with the Upside Sit-to-Stand desk. Just as my title says, I am obsessed. And more so than I thought I would be.

The standing feature is brilliant. It's so much better for my physical well-being. I love not sitting when I work, but I also love sitting in my Haworth Zody chair when the times call for it. The Upside and Zody go wonderfully together btw.

The standing feature also aids beautifully when recording my podcast and audio bites. All of my sound equipment is at the perfect height for me to stand while I record which is great for my voice projection.

The little lever that lifts and lowers the desk is flawless. It's smooth, efficient, and offers a low hum when going up and down. Our nursery is next to our office - never once has the sound of using the desk woken up our baby.

Looks-wise, this desk is stunning. It's sleek and minimal. You can do so much with it. The blank canvas that this desk is, allowed me to add my unique touches to it. A cool little catch-all plate for my air buds and Palo Santo stick and a pink Himalayan salt lamp adorn my desk. I love how much I can personalize it and make it a cozy workspace for myself.

Let's talk drawers. I was apprehensive since it doesn't have drawers, but I soon realized - no drawers, no problem! I have found creative ways to store all of my office goodies and stationery using acrylic drawers.

If you have been thinking about a standing desk - I highly recommend the Upside. It's incredible! *****

Impressed with the quality.

It took a while to receive but worth the wait. I was surprised how heavy everything is. Has the look and feel of quality. Easy assembly, easy setup. With all that said it showed up right before I had to leave for a business trip, so I haven't had the chance to real life use it.

Very stable!

Microscopy is notorious for ergonomic injuries with prolonged use. Following a torn shoulder muscle, I decided on a major upgrade to my microscopy lab. The key items were were a Haworth Soji chair and Upside standing desk. The critical issue was whether the Upside would be stable enough for my application. (I had determined that some of the industry grade standing desks were too shaky for my use.) There was no local showroom, so I discussed my requirement with a very helpful Haworth rep on the phone. She was adventurous enough to even do a simple experiment with her desk, a cup of coffee and observing the vibrations after rapping firmly on the her desk. I ordered and am delighted with the quality and stability of the desk and comfort and posture using the chair.

(One minor suggestion for Haworth: the two screws that mount the paddle are critical but tend to stick (long, skinny screws that bind in the predrilled holes. A bit of bees wax on the screws made this much easier. Haworth might consider either a bit of wax on these two screws or a slightly larger pilot holes. I suspect that some consumers will have difficulty properly seating these screws as supplied.)

The desk is wonderful. I was sleep deprived the first time I attempted installation and misplaced directions, had to spend some time trying to find an appropriate video, and messed up the first installation because I wasn't sure which holes were supposed to be lined up with which part of the frame. There maybe was some sort of manufacturer's error with the guide holes on the bottom of the desk, i.e.) whatever made the hole tried again, and so it was confusing without knowing the full installation process which holes should be used for which pieces. There are Haworth installation videos on Vimeo that were super helpful. Once I screwed everything in place, my wife and I flipped the desk upward. All the pieces were really heavy and I don't think I would have been able to set it upright without someone helping me, unless I wanted to risk an injury. The surface itself is large, dense, and sturdy. The frame is out of the way of my legs when sitting and standing. I can also do knee ups, like right now: I'm practicing standing on a single leg and my knee is higher than my hip, under the desk, while I'm standing here. I have my desk at the highest setting nearly the whole time I work because I like to stand. The only time I notice any sort of instability, and I say that lightly, is at the highest setting with the extendable frame. That said, I can't imagine a sturdier standing desk at its price point. The simple paddle is perfect. The programmable paddle would've added weeks to my shipping time; meanwhile I believe I can buy said paddle separately anyway. I'm less enthusiastic about the functions of the programmable paddle and I haven't thought to myself about needing its functions since I started working with the simple paddle. The only thing I wish was different about this desk is for an extendable frame that is sturdier and raises higher. While this is perfect for me, I think folks who are taller than I would still be needing something to further accommodate their height. Otherwise - this desk delivers. I feel save with my baby near it and I literally could stand here all day.
